Scriptviz
Overview :
ScriptViz is a script visualization tool developed based on Stanford University's MovieNet database. It analyzes the hierarchical annotations of 1,100 films, including genre tags at the film level, location tags at the scene level, film style tags at the shot level, and character bounding box annotations at the frame level. This assists writers in enriching dialogue details and crafting unfinished dialogues through visualizations during the creative process. The tool's main advantage lies in its ability to retrieve corresponding cinematic scene sequences based on the fixed and variable properties entered by the writer, thereby facilitating better decision-making in script creation. ScriptViz was collaboratively developed by Anyi Rao, Jean-Pe?c Chou, and Maneesh Agrawala from Stanford University and was showcased at ACM UIST 2024.
Target Users :
Target audiences include screenwriters and filmmakers. ScriptViz enhances their understanding and crafting of scenes and dialogues in the script through rich visualizations of cinematic scenes, ultimately improving creative efficiency and quality of work.

Use Cases
By setting the protagonist's personality and environmental properties, ScriptViz provided various desert scenes, helping the writer add details that enhanced the protagonist's character.
While crafting a 'will discussion' scene, the writer set bedroom scene and character properties, and ScriptViz returned different age versions of the character James. The writer chose the visualization that best matched the character's traits.
In writing a couple's argument scene, the writer adjusted the scene properties from a restaurant to a home dining setting, modifying the dialogue content to better suit the tension of the conflict.
