Developed by Ubisoft, NEO NPC is a revolutionary AI prototype that enables NPCs in games to interact with players through natural and expressive dialogue. This prototype feeds character personality traits, backstory, and other elements created by game writers into a large language model (LLM), further training it using Nvidia's Audio2Face application and Inworld's LLM. As a result, NPCs can generate appropriate language responses based on in-game context and player input. While maintaining the consistency of each NPC's identity, the system empowers them with autonomous conversational abilities, providing players with an unprecedentedly immersive experience. Ubisoft emphasizes that this is just a prototype and will continue to be iterated upon and optimized in the future, with the ultimate goal of its broad application across various game projects.
